In Ayurvedic terms, a person’s unique traits are expressed in one of three doshas–Vata, Pitta or Kapha. These qualities manifest in your personality, activity, an physicality, such as your skin type. Vata is an expression of space and air, commonly manifesting in mobility. Pitta is an expression of fire and water, commonly manifesting in transformation. Kapha is an expression of water and earth, commonly manifesting in cohesion.
Vata profiles are creative, dreamers, often dreaming up new expressions in life. Pitta profiles are passionate and expressive individuals, great leaders and enthusiasts. Kapha profiles are grounded and trustworthy, compassionate and excel at synthesizing ideas and bringing people together.
Vata skin types tend toward thin, delicate, and almost transparent skin. Common issues for Vata skin types is dryness, flakiness, dark spots, and premature fine lines and wrinkles. They tend to not have issues with clogged pores. Vata types may also have dark under eye circles.
Pitta skin types often have clear and radiant skin, but can occasionally be irritated and red. Pitta types tend to burn easily in the sun. They might have freckles and moles. Pitta types tend toward sensitive, oily skin. If unbalanced, they may develop congested pores in the T-zone.
Kapha skin types have robust, sometimes oily skin. Few to no wrinkles for you! You have smooth, moist skin, but that means you may also have large pores and oiliness. Prone to oily skin, blocked pores, and dull or pale skin. You may also have puffy eyes, and suffer from rashes.
